A nice bit of PR now for our coffee shop (called TEE) located on Highway 340 in Suphan Buri (map here).
A popular Thai TV Channel (Channel 3) host a programme called AHAN AROI (Tasty Food).
The way it works is simple, two Thai TV presenters slash actors known as 'Eddy' and 'Chai' go in search of good places to eat across the Kingdom. They take their TV crew and visit these places and do a short review, and help to spread the word on good places to eat. It makes for good viewing, and is great for the restaurants etc that are chosen.
The first we knew they were planning a visit was when we received a phone call a week or so ago, telling us that two researchers had stopped by and had eaten some of our food on the way to another job further north. They were impressed, and thought our little shop was good enough to feature on one of their programmes. k-u-d-o-s, or what!
Needless to say everyone went crazy when we found out. We only had a few days to get the place ready, so it was all hands on deck. One of the guys on our team, Phi Pod, carved the TEE logo into a huge tree trunk which Mere had acquired (who knows where she finds such things), illustrating how these guys remain incredibly skilful with their hands (pic above).
When the film crew turned up, they were very quick, and professional. All the girls at the coffee shop swooned as these two TV personalities took over the place, greeting everybody and taking photos. Both Eddy and Chai spoke English fluently and were really friendly, funny people. After a cup of coffee and a stretch of the legs, the make up was slapped on, and filming began.
It probably only took an hour to complete their work, and afterwards there was a little time for some food, a few more photo's, then goodbyes.
The review of TEE will be shown on December 7th on Channel 3 at 7 AM.
